What Daytona Bike Week is
Daytona Bike Week is a ten-day motorcycle rally held every March in Daytona Beach, Florida, and the towns around it. It grew out of the first Daytona 200, a race run on January 24, 1937, on a 3.2-mile course that combined the beach with the paved road beside it. The 2027 rally, set for March 5 to 14, marks its 86th year.
The Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce presents the official event and runs OfficialBikeWeek.com. This site is an independent guide with no connection to the chamber, the city or the Speedway.
Where riders gather
Main Street in Daytona Beach is the traditional center, lined with bars, vendors and parked bikes. During recent rallies the city has limited Main Street to motorcycle traffic for the full ten days. Midtown has hosted live music, food vendors and a ride-in bike show, and downtown’s Beach Street runs beside the Riverfront Esplanade on the Intracoastal Waterway.
North of town, US 1 through Ormond Beach is the other main hub. Destination Daytona, home to Teddy Morse’s Daytona Harley-Davidson, sits near I-95, and the Iron Horse Saloon hosts concerts along the same corridor. Back toward the ocean, Main Street is home to Boot Hill Saloon.
Racing and riding
Daytona International Speedway handles the racing side of the week, including DAYTONA Supercross and the Daytona 200, which moved from the beach to the Speedway in 1961. For 2027, Supercross is scheduled for Saturday, March 6.
Away from the crowds, there is good riding in every direction: A1A along the ocean to the north and south, the tree-lined Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail, and SR 40 west into the Ocala National Forest.

Which airport is closest to Daytona Bike Week?
Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) is the closest, a few miles from Main Street and near the Speedway. Orlando Sanford (SFB) is about 45 miles away and Orlando International (MCO) about 70, and a shuttle service connects Daytona Beach with both Orlando airports. Jacksonville International (JAX) is roughly 105 miles north by road.
Do I have to wear a helmet in Florida?
It depends on your age and insurance. Riders under 21 must wear a helmet. Riders 21 and older may ride without one only if they are covered by an insurance policy with at least $10,000 in medical benefits for motorcycle crash injuries. Florida also requires every motorcycle operator to wear approved eye protection, helmet or not.
