Laconia Motorcycle Week returns to Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee from June 12 to 20, 2027, the rally’s 104th edition. This independent guide gathers what riders need to plan the trip: event basics, lodging, parking on Lakeside Avenue, New Hampshire riding laws and the lake and mountain roads that make the miles worth it.
What Laconia Motorcycle Week is
Laconia Motorcycle Week is a nine-day June rally centered on Weirs Beach, the lakeside village at the north end of Laconia, New Hampshire. Its roots go back to a 1916 Gypsy Tour, when riders gathered on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. The Laconia Motorcycle Week Association, a nonprofit that promotes the event, bills it as the world’s oldest motorcycle rally. The rally was skipped in seven years, so the 2027 edition is counted as the 104th.
Where the action happens
Lakeside Avenue at Weirs Beach is the heart of the week. Rally Headquarters, vendors, live music and free motorcycle parking all line the strip. The rest of the schedule spreads across the region. Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford hosts the AMA-sanctioned hill climb, and New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon hosts vintage racing, demo rides and the Loudon Classic, which is billed as America’s oldest motorcycle road race. Laconia Harley-Davidson in Meredith adds its own shows and events.
Why riders make the trip
For many visitors, the roads are the main reason to come. Guided Gypsy Tours leave Rally Headquarters every day, and the White Mountains are a day ride away, with the Kancamagus Highway, Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch and the Mount Washington Auto Road all within reach. The loop around Lake Winnipesaukee makes an easy first-day ride.
Plan ahead
Rooms near Weirs Beach fill early, so book once your dates are set. New Hampshire requires helmets only for riders under 18, but eye protection is required if your bike has no windshield. June weather can swing from warm sun to cold rain in a single day, and it is much colder on Mount Washington. Use the planner, lodging, route and directory pages in this guide to build your week, and check the official rally website for the final 2027 schedule.

FAQ
Questions riders ask
When is Laconia Motorcycle Week 2027?
The Laconia Motorcycle Week Association has set the 104th rally for Saturday, June 12 through Sunday, June 20, 2027. The week traditionally wraps up on Father’s Day weekend. Individual events, such as the Gunstock hill climb and the Loudon Classic, fall on specific days inside that window, so check the official schedule in spring before you lock in your travel days.
Where is Laconia Motorcycle Week held?
The hub is Weirs Beach, part of Laconia on the southern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. Rally Headquarters, vendors and most of the street scene sit along Lakeside Avenue. Other events take place at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon and Laconia Harley-Davidson in Meredith, plus group rides across the Lakes Region and White Mountains.
Do I need a ticket to attend?
There is no single gate or wristband for the rally, and organizers note there is no central ticketing system. Hanging out on Lakeside Avenue and parking your bike on the strip are free. Some events charge their own admission, including the Gunstock hill climb and racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, so budget for the specific events you want to see.
Do I have to wear a helmet in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire law requires a helmet only for riders and passengers under 18. Adults can choose, but Laconia police reported serious crashes involving riders without helmets during the 2026 rally, so wearing one is the safer call. Eye protection is a separate rule: if your bike has no windshield or screen that shields your eyes and face, you must wear glasses, goggles or a face shield.
How many people attend Laconia Motorcycle Week?
Attendance figures are rough estimates because there is no central ticketing. Organizers estimated a peak of about 375,000 people in 2004. After the 2026 rally, the association’s deputy director told the Boston Globe that turnout may have been 20 to 25 percent lower than in recent years, and that weather affects how many day-trippers decide to come.
What is the best time to go if I can't stay all week?
It depends on what you want to see. The organizers say the first weekend and midweek usually have the best lodging rates, while the final weekend is the busiest and most congested. Racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway runs on both weekends, and the Gunstock hill climb is traditionally held on Wednesday. Pick your must-see events first, then build your days around them.
