How to choose a base
The rally venues sit in a fairly short stretch of town. Frank Brown Park and Harley-Davidson of Panama City Beach are on US-98, about a mile apart, and Crossroads, Sharky’s Beachfront, McGuire’s Irish Pub and The Bike Rack are all on Front Beach Road. Hammerhead Fred’s is farther east on Thomas Drive. Staying anywhere between Pier Park and Thomas Drive keeps most rally stops a short ride away. If you are trailering, a property with room for a truck and trailer matters more than a Gulf view.
Pier Park, an outdoor shopping and dining center that opened in 2008, sits right next to Frank Brown Park. Staying nearby gives you restaurants and shops within easy reach on the days you would rather park the bike.

Thunder Beach Productions lists preferred lodging on its website, some with rally booking links or promo codes. Recent partners include Margaritaville Beach Cottage Resort, Pines at West Bay, Residence Inn by Marriott at Pier Park, Seahaven Beach Hotel, Sleep Inn and Suites, WoodSpring Suites and Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort, where the rally got its start in 1999. Booking tips
- Book early for the spring rally, which draws the bigger crowd.
- For the autumn rally, choose a refundable rate or trip insurance in case a tropical storm threatens.
- Ask where motorcycles and trailers can park, and whether the lot is lit or gated.
- Check for minimum-night stays during rally week.
- A ground-floor room or one near the elevator makes hauling gear easier.
- If you plan to enjoy the evening venues, pick lodging within walking distance or plan on a rideshare so the bike stays parked.
Riding in from farther out
If rooms near the venues are tight, Panama City across the Hathaway Bridge and the South Walton beach towns along Scenic Highway 30A are both workable bases. Expect a longer ride to the rally hubs each day, and more time in traffic during peak evening hours.
