Laconia ride routes in brief
These Laconia ride routes are day rides you can do from your base during Laconia Motorcycle Week, with distance, ride time and a Google Maps link for each. Check road conditions and the National Weather Service forecast before you set out.
Planning your rides
Weirs Beach sits in the middle of the Lakes Region, with the White Mountains to the north. The Lake Winnipesaukee loop is an easy half-day ride straight from your room. The mountain routes start farther north, so many riders link them into one long day. VisitNH’s Multi-Notch Mountain Ride, about 142 miles starting from Conway, strings together the Kancamagus Highway, Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch and NH 16. If you would rather ride with a group, daily Gypsy Tours leave from Rally Headquarters.
Before you head into the mountains
- Fill your tank in Lincoln or Conway before the Kancamagus Highway, which runs through national forest without services.
- Download offline maps, because cell coverage is limited in parts of the White Mountains.
- Pack warm layers. June highs in Laconia average in the upper 70s, but the Mount Washington summit averages about 51°F.
- Watch for moose on US 3 north of Franconia Notch, especially around sunrise and sunset.
- Check the Mount Washington Auto Road status before you leave, since wind and wet weather can close it to motorcycles.
- Start early to stay ahead of sightseeing traffic on the Kanc and in the notches.
- Lane splitting is illegal in New Hampshire, and no more than two motorcycles may ride side by side in one lane.
