Planning timeline
Budget categories
Costs vary widely depending on where you stay and what you attend, so plan by category instead of a single number:
- Lodging or camping, usually the biggest line item. Organizers note that rates are often lower 30 minutes or more from Weirs Beach.
- Fuel for day rides into the White Mountains
- Admission for the hill climb, racing and other ticketed events
- Tolls, including the Mount Washington Auto Road if you plan to ride it
- Parking in private lots near Weirs Beach
- Food, drinks and rally merchandise
- A cushion for repairs, extra rain gear or a change of plans
Getting there
Most riders arrive on Interstate 93. Local directions describe three main approaches from the south. Leave I-93 at Exit 20 in Tilton and follow US 3 north past Lake Winnisquam to the Laconia Bypass and Weirs Boulevard. Or take Exit 23 in New Hampton, follow NH 104 east to Meredith, then US 3 south to Weirs Beach, which local guides call the easiest route. A third option uses Exit 15E to I-393 and NH 106 north past New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
If you fly, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is the closest major airport. Boston Logan (BOS) and Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Maine offer more flights but a longer trip north. Public transportation in the area is very limited, so plan to rent a vehicle or bike, ship your motorcycle or trailer it in.
Parking
Motorcycle parking on Lakeside Avenue is free all week, in designated areas with set traffic patterns. Nearby lots, including the Weirs Action Committee beach lot, the Weirs Beach Drive-In, the Foster Avenue lot and the community park lot behind the fire station, have charged about $5 per motorcycle, and the official site advises riders not to pay more than that. Stay out of tow zones, travel lanes, private property and accessible spaces without a permit, because towing is strictly enforced.
To avoid traffic between Weirs Beach and Meredith, the organizers note that a shuttle train runs at peak rally times.
