Riding the New Smyrna Beach to Canaveral National Seashore
New Smyrna Beach to Canaveral National Seashore: a 34-mile mixed-road ride from Daytona Beach to Apollo Beach, Canaveral National Seashore. Plan on about 1 hr each way of riding, plus stops.
Head south from Daytona Beach on US 1 past the marshes of Spruce Creek Preserve, then cross into New Smyrna Beach and cruise its Flagler Avenue beach district. A1A continues south through Bethune Beach and gets quieter with every mile until you reach Canaveral National Seashore. Inside the park, the road passes the Turtle Mound archaeological site, the Eldora Loop Road with the Eldora State House, and the Apollo Beach area.
There is no through road to the south end of the seashore, so plan to return the way you came. The park charges an entrance fee for motorcycles, and the Apollo Beach entrance station takes cards only. Fuel up and grab food before you go in.
Timing: About 1 hour each way without stops.
