Riding the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Loop
Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Loop: a 24-mile coastal loop starting at Daytona Beach beachside (Main Street area). Plan on about 45 min round trip of riding, plus stops.
This 24-mile loop is the easiest way to add a landmark to a rally afternoon. Ride south from the Daytona beachside along the Atlantic through Daytona Beach Shores to Ponce Inlet, passing the North Turn historic landmark that marks the old beach racing course. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, 175 feet tall and the tallest in Florida, anchors the turnaround, with Lighthouse Point Park and the Marine Science Center close by. The lighthouse plans extended hours during Biketoberfest, but a tower restoration project has part of the gallery deck closed, so check before you climb. Head back north on the river side for views over the Intracoastal Waterway.
Timing: About 45 minutes round trip without stops.
Open the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Loop in Google Maps before you leave, and check the National Weather Service forecast for the area on the day.
