Laconia: where to stay in brief
Laconia: where to stay depends on how close you want to be to the action and how you like to sleep. Below are the main areas, hotels versus campgrounds and rentals, and how to keep your bike safe overnight. Rooms go early for rally week, so confirm the dates on the official Laconia Motorcycle Week website and book as soon as you can.
Book early
Rally organizers say rooms sell out quickly every year, and the closer you want to be to Lakeside Avenue, the earlier you should book. The official rally website keeps a lodging list by region. Keep in mind that it is a paid advertising list, so it does not cover every property in the state.
Weirs Beach and Laconia
Staying at Weirs Beach puts Rally Headquarters and the Lakeside Avenue scene within walking distance. The Naswa Resort on Weirs Boulevard is the rally’s official hotel, and the area has a mix of motels, cottage colonies and condos. Pine Hollow Campground is one of the closest campgrounds to the action. Expect late-night noise and peak-week rates.
Away from the Weirs, the rest of Laconia has hotels and motels a short ride from the strip, such as the Best Western Plus Landmark Inn on the official lodging list. These can be easier to get in and out of each morning.
Gilford and Meredith
Gilford sits next to Laconia and is home to Gunstock Mountain Resort, where the hill climb takes place. It has motels and inns near the lake. Meredith, a few miles north of Weirs Beach on US 3, offers resort lodging such as Mill Falls at the Lake and puts you close to Laconia Harley-Davidson and the roads north into the mountains.
Camping at the speedway
New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon is less than 20 miles from Weirs Beach and offers camping during rally week. The organizers describe it as an inexpensive option that puts you right next to the racing.
Farther out
The organizers suggest that staying 30 minutes or more away often means lower rates and more choice. Tilton, near I-93, works well if you are arriving from the south. Lincoln and North Conway in the White Mountains make sense if you plan to spend most days riding the Kancamagus Highway and the notches. Just budget time for the commute and for evening traffic around Weirs Beach.
Booking tips
- Ask about minimum-night stays during rally week.
- Confirm there is secure, level parking for bikes and trailers.
- Read the cancellation terms, since June weather can change plans.
- If you camp, pack for cold, wet nights as well as warm days.
