Spring Bike Rally ride routes in brief
These Spring Bike Rally ride routes are day rides you can do from your base during the Myrtle Beach Spring Bike Rally, with distance, ride time and a Google Maps link for each. Check road conditions and the National Weather Service forecast before you set out.
Riding the Grand Strand
Riding around the Grand Strand means coastal highways and inland country roads rather than mountain curves. During rally week, the main challenge is traffic.
Tips for rally week
Know your US 17s.
US 17 Bypass carries through traffic, while US 17 Business (Kings Highway) runs through Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City and Murrells Inlet with more stoplights and turning cars.
Use the parkways to save time.
SC 31 (Carolina Bays Parkway) and SC 22 (Conway Bypass) are limited-access roads that help you skip beach traffic when you need to cross the area quickly.
Leave early.
Morning rides are cooler, and you will be back for afternoon music at the venues.
Ride legal.
Lane splitting is illegal in South Carolina, two bikes per lane is the limit, and Horry County prohibits blocking intersections for a group to pass.
Helmet check at the state line.
North Carolina requires helmets for all riders, so carry yours on the Wilmington ride.
Watch the weather.
May brings about 3 to 4 inches of rain on average. Pack rain gear and give yourself extra distance on wet roads.
Fuel up before you leave the coast.
Stations are sparse on the inland back roads.
Distances and times below come from online mapping with no stops and normal traffic. During rally week, add extra time for congestion, fuel and photo stops.
