Riding the North Strand Loop on SC 9 and SC 90

North Strand Loop on SC 9 and SC 90: a 75-mile backroads loop starting at Cherry Grove Beach, North Myrtle Beach, SC. Plan on about 2 hr 10 min of riding, plus stops.

This loop suits riders staying in North Myrtle Beach or Little River. Pick up SC 9 near Cherry Grove Beach and follow it inland on a long, straight run to the small town of Loris. Turn south on US 701 for the ride into Conway, then pick up SC 90, a 23-mile state highway that links Conway with Little River. SC 90 passes through Wampee and stretches of open farmland before reaching the coast again. Close the loop on US 17 back to Cherry Grove. Fuel up before you leave, since stations are spread out on the inland stretch.

Open the North Strand Loop on SC 9 and SC 90 in Google Maps before you leave, and check the National Weather Service forecast for the area on the day.
